2026-03-27: Oh, the joy of buying from a local shop!
Support local retail, they say. Don’t order everything online, they say.
Okay.
Quest: buy some bath mats that can be washed at 60 °C and dried in a dryer. Like a towel, only a bit sturdier. Perfectly reasonable, I would say. We have quite a lot of them, but they are getting frayed, and we need replacements.
Nope. Those do not exist, by the looks of it. I went to five brick-and-mortar stores. Woolworth, Kik, Tedi, Galeria and Jysk. They all have bath mats, of course. Fluffy things that can be hand-washed, and maybe with a special-programme wash at 30 °C in the washing machine. No way José. That is not what I want.
Guess what? Amazon sells them. I haven’t seen them yet, but if they are not what I want, I can send them back. (I hope I won’t have to.)
We went to a sixth brick-and-mortar store (OBI) after I ordered them off Amazon from my phone, looking for something else (which we found – no-drill adhesive toothbrush cup holders), and no joy there either. Bath mats, yes, but fluffy ones not washable at 60 °C.
If you want me to buy from local retail, can local retail please stock what I want to buy? This is not the first time this has happened.
